Fairy Morgana of Celtic mythology, which induced in sailors visions of fantastic castles in the air or on earth to attract them and then lead them to death.
This phenomenon, which can be observed on land or at sea, in polar regions or deserts, greatly distorts the object (or objects) on which the mirage acts, so as to make them unusual and unrecognizable, and is what distinguishes it from another phenomenon that is that mirage. That is shown in rapid evolution, in positions other than the original ones, in a vision that can seamlessly switch from compression to stretching. The most common result is to see in addition to the object also an image of it "suspended" in the sky and upside down.

Fata Morgana di mitologia celtica, che induceva nei marinai visioni di fantastici castelli in aria o in terra per attirarli e quindi condurli alla morte.
Tale fenomeno, che può essere osservato a terra o in mare, nelle regioni polari o nei deserti, distorce enormemente l’oggetto (o gli oggetti) su cui agisce il miraggio, tanto da renderli insoliti e irriconoscibili, ed è ciò che lo distingue da un altro fenomeno che è quello del miraggio. Che è mostrato in rapida evoluzione, in posizioni diverse da quelle originarie, in una visione che può passare senza soluzione di continuità dalla compressione e o all’allungamento. Il risultato più comune è quello di scorgere oltre all’oggetto anche una sua immagine “sospesa” in cielo e capovolta.
